Okay soooooo…. I totally just finished my first week of med school! It has been such a crazy few days, I don’t even know where to begin!
Meeting my new coursemates has been so humbling, even though there’s almost 200 of us, it feels like a warm fuzzy family already. It’s so heartwarming to look around the room at an age group ranging from 22 to over 40 and knowing we’ve all had ups and downs to get to where we are today. But we finally made it and are on our way to becoming tomorrow’s doctors.
Granted, we are still a long, long, LONG way away from saving lives, and that was made perfectly clear to us from day one when we were hit with about 92873047562 pages of information (help)! The pace is going to be insane, the hours extensive and the ride emotional – but I am SO excited to be starting my journey.
If there’s anything that I’ve learnt from this first week it’s that it is non-stop! I’m one of those people that has to eat all the time (guilty) and I found that this week I had no time to even stop and eat properly – huge wake up call! This weekend has been all about meal prepping and smoothie making: anything to make snacking on the go easier… will keep you updated on how my new healthy eating on the go situation goes! If any of you lovely readers has any tips on this do share!!
Next week I’ll post on more of the juicy, clinical details, but for now:
